"In order to process a split workpiece in one chucking, it is necessary to chuck it by hand every time. This is a big burden to operators, so we would like to improve it."
⚡Points of the problem faced by the customer⚡
The customer felt that the manual chucking operation was a must and considered simplification, but no significant improvement was found in the end.
📝Proposals
-Since they were unable to come up with a concrete vision for improvement, they consulted us.
We examined their workpieces and went through the following steps: "Design meeting", "Determination of how to eliminate the manual operation", and "Actual machine verification".
And then we offered Muratec's automation technology.
1 . Design meeting
Muratec's design department consists of separate teams for tooling, chucking, machine body, and transfer system, and necessary meetings are held according to each project.
For this project, aiming to find a way to eliminate the manual chucking operation, individual experts exchanged opinions and dug up ideas that could be used from the track record of over 30,000 units handled in the past.
2 . Determination of how to eliminate the manual operation
The chucking design team and the transfer system design team played a central role in the joint study.
Finally, they came up with an idea to eliminate the manual operation by using Muratec's gantry loader in conjunction with the spindle chuck fixture arrangement.
We used a loader chuck with 2-jaw clamping system to ensure both stability for automatic transfer and easy handling with a spindle chuck.
3 . Actual machine verification
Since the customer provided us with the workpiece materials, we also conducted a preliminary actual machine verification.
We were able to further improve the accuracy of the design by carrying out the design work at the desk and also checking the actual product at the same time.
✨Higher Productivity
- By introducing the above automation technology, manual chucking operation has been reduced to zero. This has eliminated the burden on operators and created a production line that exceeds the customer's initial expectation.
